Location: Zanzibar

Kisiwa House is a unique boutique hotel, offering contemporary sophistication combined with gracious Swahili hospitality right in the heart of Zanzibar’s fabled old town.  It is the special touches, like the Courtyard Lounge with fountain, and the rooftop restaurant, which make this place so very special.

Rooms at Kisiwa House are at once crisp and fresh, romantic and magical, and distinctly Swahili in style.  The plush interiors contrast with the bright white walls, offsetting the bright and lustrous soft furnishings perfectly.  Rooms at Kisiwa House feature amenities such as; flat screen televisions with satellite, wireless internet, air conditioning, personal safe, telephone, mini-bar, tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, en suite bathrooms and complimentary toiletries.

From the soft lighting to the amazing view and the balmy Zanzibar breeze, everything at Darini, Kisiwa House’s rooftop restaurant, makes for a magical dining experience.  The cuisine focuses, of course, on the exotic and tantilizing spices so ubiquitous on Zanzibar, which are used to create unctuous Zanzibari fare.

For a quiet coffee or  a traditional Zanzibar tea, complete with freshly baked pastires, simply head to the Courtyard Lounge.  This is a lovely place to spend a long afternoon, listening to the sounds of the splashing fountain and enchanting Taarab music.

Reviews & Testimonials of Kisiwa House

"Fantastic Hotel- quiet, friendly, spacious rooms, the perfect location!!"

An absolute amazing hotel!! The service, location and comfort were beyond my highest expectations. I truly perfect place that is centrally located, walking distance, to venture out into Stonetown. A cozy, warm and simply delightful hotel. The rooms were large with a big bed, super comfortable pillows which ensured us a very restful sleep. The morning breakfast was wonderful with nice view of the ocean. A must consider place, if your lucky to get a room as this hotel will surely be one of the finest most sought after hotels in Stonetown. We will definitely return!! The staff and manager are professional and very accommodating. I cannot give this place any higher recommendation then simply PERFECT!!!

"Our favorite place in Stone Town - great service, beautiful room"

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Kisiwa House as we started our honeymoon in Zanzibar. It was our favorite place in Stone Town. The location is fantastic, just off of the main drag of Kenyatta Road, but very peaceful and quiet. We loved the design and decor and the peaceful arabic vibe. We stayed in a Malkia Suite which was very roomy and overall just lovely. On arrival we found fragrant jasmine flowers covering the vibrant, crisp linens on the bed. It was beautiful! This type of suite has a spacious tub perfect for 2. Cheherezade was a very attentive and friendly manager and the rest of the staff was unassuming and pleasant as well. The rooftop breakfast is included in the room rate and was tasty. The spiced chai was the yummiest we had at all the places we stayed, including the Serena Inn and the Z Hotel in Nungwi. As it was our honeymoon we were willing to spend a bit more on nicer places and we were very pleased with our experience at Kisiwa House. From there we moved to the Serena Inn, which is in a beautiful location with unbeatable views. But looking at cost and value, we preferred Kisiwa House over the Serena. Wish we could've stayed longer!
